Neurologic Residency - Dallas

 is a joint program with Â鶹ÊÓƵ. This accredited residency promotes excellent care in the lifespan of people who have suffered a neurologic injury. This intensive, 12-month program focuses on advanced clinical decision making and prepares the residents to provide the highest level of physical therapy for patients with neurologic injuries. The program is coordinated between several different Baylor Rehab facilities and incorporates three different levels of care. Upon completion, residents will receive an academic certification in advanced neurologic physical therapy from Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

Program Features

  • Program Length: 12 Months, starting at the end of May each year
  • Application Opens: October of each year
  • Application Deadline: Early January of each year
  • Location: Three Dallas-area facilities and Â鶹ÊÓƵ
    • Baylor Scott & White Rehab - Outpatient - Dallas/Main
    • Baylor Scott and White Rehab - Inpatient Rehabilitation - Dallas
    • Baylor University Medical Center - BSW Dallas
    • Â鶹ÊÓƵ - Dallas Campus
  • Salary: Residents will receive a salary as an employee of Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation equivalent to new graduate physical therapists.
  • Curriculum: Based on the APTA description of specialty practice. Residents will see patients with varying neurologic diagnoses in inpatient, outpatient and acute care settings.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ and PT NeuroConsortium Curriculum for Residency in Neurologic Physical Therapy

Course fees: Residents are expected to pay tuition for Â鶹ÊÓƵ courses and PT NeuroConsortium 26 Modules + Journal Club option. Prices will vary per year and whether the resident is in state or out of state for tuition.

Residency Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be licensed to practice physical therapy in Texas*
  • Must meet all requirements for admission to Â鶹ÊÓƵ School of Physical Therapy Graduate School prior to residency
  • Strong academic education and background
  • Clinical and/or work experiences in various neurologic settings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform examination and treatment procedures
  • Strong skills in scientific inquiry and writing
  • Psychological and social stability required for successful completion of the program

*Special consideration may be given to highly-qualified new graduate applicants with a temporary Texas license.
